Vulcan L-band Matrix System (downlink) 128 x 256


  • Description

    The L-band expandable Vulcan Matrix system gives a high performance solution to frequency signal routing changes and handling a high volume of downlink feeds.

    All active components are hot-swap - RF cards, CPU's and PSU's. In addition the Vulcan L-band Matrix has the designed-in resilience provided by dual redundant CPU's, and dual redundant PSU's.

    The multi-module 128 x 256  Vulcan Matrix System is a distributive (full fan-out) Matrix. The system requires (44 RU rack space in) 2 x 19" racks depending on rack size / cable density and ancillary equipment (splitter type, termination panels, LNB powering etc). The L-band Matrix is scalable to a maximum system size of 1024 inputs x 1024 outputs.

    A variety of impedances and connector types are available.

  • Matrix Types

    Non-blocking: this means any input can be routed to any output.

    Full Fan-out Matrix (or fully distributive or splitting matrix): any input can be routed to any output. One input can be routed to many outputs. Each output can only have one input. Tends to be more RX.

    In general, our solid state (L-band) matrices are non-blocking.

  • Matrix Sizes

    The 128 x 256 Vulcan Matrix system is comprised of two Vulcan 128 x 128 modules and splitter systems. It can be expanded using additional (Vulcan) modules with system splitters and / or combinres up to a maximum of 1024 x 1024.
