Enigma L-Band Matrix System (downlink) 32 x 128


  • Description

    The L-band expandable matrix system is used to provide flexibility in the routing of antennas to receivers or modems; to allow remote routing of satellite signals to receivers or modems; and to help optimise the use of receiving capacity.

    The multi-module 32 x 128 Enigma Matrix System is a distributive (full fan-out) Matrix. The system requires (28 RU rack space in) 1 to 2 x 19" racks depending on rack size / cable density requirements and ancillary equipment (splitter type, termination panels, LNB powering etc). The L-band Matrix is scalable to a maximum system size of 512 inputs x 512 outputs.

    Now in its 3rd generation, the Enigma L-band Matrix has proved to have genuinely high performance with excellent flatness or frequency response, excellent isolation, and linearity - a truly leading edge L-band Router. The Enigma L-band Switch matrix can also be incorporated into an overall automatic redundancy Network Management System to enhance the resilience of the overall earth station equipment.

    A variety of impedances and connector types are available.

  • Matrix Types

    Non-blocking: this means any input can be routed to any output.

    Full Fan-out Matrix (or fully distributive or splitting matrix): any input can be routed to any output. One input can be routed to many outputs. Each output can only have one input. Tends to be more RX.

    In general our solid state (L-band) matrices are non-blocking.

  • Matrix Sizes

    The 32 x 128 Enigma Matrix System is comprised of four Enigma 32 x 32 modules and splitter systems. It can be expanded using additional (Enigma) modules with system splitters and / or combiners up to a maximum of 512 x 512.

    Hurricane Matrix - 32 x 128 requires 2 part populated Hurricane matrices and system splitters (total 11 RU) 

    Vortex Matrix - 32 x 128 requires 2 part populated Vortex matrices and system splitters (total 19 RU) 

    Vulcan Matrix - 32 x 128 requires 1 part populated Vulcan matrix (total 16 RU)
