ABOUT

ETL Systems has been at the forefront of RF design and manufacturing for over 35 years. It designs and builds essential elements of critical satellite communications infrastructure. Its culture of innovation and its solutioneering approach have established it as a market leader in the field, with revenue growing 30x since 2003. In 2020, ETL Systems received significant investment from CBPE Capital, enabling the management team to drive their ambitious growth plan forward.

ETL’s rapid growth and success have been recognised at the UK's highest level, with the company winning three Queen’s Awards for Enterprise in International Trade. As a testament to that success, the top 20 satellite operators and teleports in the world utilise ETL’s products. Around the world, 75% of NATO governments use ETL Systems equipment to protect their citizens.

Today, the company offers a full suite of solutions between the antenna and the modem for both the uplink and downlink chains. In 2019, ETL expanded its range to include instrumentation and measurement equipment for the set up and testing of RF chains through its acquisition of Atlantic Microwave Ltd.

FACILITIES & CAPABILITIES

Ian Hilditch leads the commercial team, covering global Sales, Marketing and Finance. Under his leadership, the company has expanded to include sales offices in the USA and the UAE. Ian applies his extensive experience of running and growing companies from the company's headquarters in Herefordshire, UK.

The Herefordshire site is also home to the company's production team. Located on a 3-acre campus next to the BT Madley Satellite Earth Station, the site's capabilities include RF testing, software design, automated circuit board assembly, concept design, pick and place machinery as well as machining workshops. This means that design, production, and testing can be carried out in-house to the rigorous ISO 9001 Quality Management System standards.

In 2021, construction works began on C4, a new manufacturing facility which will support the expansion of the 150-strong staff, as well as providing capacity for the next phase of the company’s growth.

In ETL’s Research and Development laboratory in Rickmansworth, Dr Esen Bayar leads a dedicated in-house design and engineering team, which specialises in originating RF design concepts, as well as enhancing existing products to meet customer needs.

The Atlantic Microwave office in Braintree houses the instrumentation and measurement division, with in-house engineering expertise available to support customers with their bespoke testing requirements.

LOOKING FORWARDS

As the satellite ground segment continues to evolve to meet new challenges – the expansion of LEO networks, the virtualisation movement and more – ETL will continue to innovate to meet market needs, developing new products and tailoring the performance and functionality of RF equipment.

The company will expand into new product areas, as with the Falcon range of frequency converters launched in 2020. ETL will apply its cutting-edge design and creative approach to answer these new questions, like the recently introduced Genus range, which provides a revolutionary modular chassis concept which can house multiple RF functionalities.
